Rules
General
You must be polite to all members. If a staff member is asking you to change something in a profile, post, or attitude, it's not personal! They're doing their job.
Accounts
Please only make one account, you should play all your characters on this account. It makes it a lot easier for the staff to keep track of you all.
Signature images should be no larger than 500x450
Avatars and signatures should not include anything that the staff deems offensive. We will edit your profile if this is the case.
Warnings and Bans
If you break a rule, you will be given a warning.
After three warnings, you will be suspended for up to three months from the game.
After an additional two warnings, you will be banned permanently.
OOC
More experienced members shouldn't discriminate against other players. Awake the Stars is for everyone, no matter what their skill at RP.
Remember, there's a person behind the words. A character's hate for yours does not mean the player does not like you! IC rivalries should not spill OOC.
Try to limit OOC talk in the RP boards. Use PMs or the OOC boards!
IC
The Garden
Be sure to check out this map(coming soon) to get a sense of where your creature is and be assured that The Garden is surround by a mile thick thorn barrier and some kind of dome above.
Posting
The Garden is an intermediate-level RPG. We have no minimum word count on posts, but we require proper spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation in all posts.
If you're planning a scene with particular characters and you'd rather not have any intrusions, put a tag in the thread title so that the other members know which characters are allowed to post! You can also tag specific users by typing @(their account name) in the body of the post. This will send that person a notification that they have been tagged.
There is no liquid time in The Garden. This means that each character cannot be in more than one thread at a time.
If however you are "stuck" in a thread that has been inactive for two weeks, you may join another thread, and should the previous thread become active again, you are permitted to finish that thread off without having to the leave the second thread.
Character Profiles
When creating a character, follow the character profile template..
Remember though to pay special attention to the guidelines at the top of the template thread.
You can start RPing right away after posting your character's profile, you don't have to wait for it to be moved to the Accepted Birds boar
Special Characters
If you would like to create a character that does not follow the rules/guidelines/regulations above, you can try to apply for a special character with special powers, or wings or something like that.
To do so, fill out a profile as usual, but include as much information as possible. The history is not optional for special characters. PM the profile to a staff member, and they will put it forward to the rest of the staff.
Your chances of getting a special character increase are greater if you are an active member of the site.
Creatures
This is an all animal role play site and you can be anything you want. although you cannot have wings or special abilities please. Strange markings or abnormal colors are fine(no neon pink or green furred tigers please!
Man
There are NO humans. Creatures in The Garden have never heard of them.
Battling
When your character is going to fight another, post in the Pinboard with a link to the thread.
A mod will see the update and come as soon as possible to mod the fight.
Each character should take it in turns to post their intended attack or defense.
As per usual, no power playing (commonly referred to as "PPing"). This pretty much means that you can't just say your character landed his/her attack. Your bird cannot be "all powerful", and never lose a fight. If you do happen to powerplay or god-mod, you'll receive a warning.
Yes: The horse lunged forward to bite at his opponents neck, while tuning his body to protect himself.
No: The horse lunged toward and bit hard, drawing blood from his opponents neck.
Let the mods do their job! A mod will let you know if your creatures attack hit/missed, how much damage it did/etc.
The outcome of each attack or defense is determined on how likely it is to succeed.
If you don't want a mod to decide the fight, you may decide with the other creatures RPer which attacks hit and miss. However, if there are any complaints of powerplay a mod can step in to decide the rest of the fight.
Breeding
Creatures of yours may breed with another as ling as you have the other members permission.
To breed two beasts, simply read the Mating Template thread in the Mating board and follow the provided template.
It is up to the player of the parents who takes which baby to play.
If neither of you are able to take all of them, you can put the remainder up in the Adoption board for other players to take.
No graphic mating.
